2nd Annual Art Auction
Our first annual Art Auction last year was a huge success! So we have decided to do it again, this year it was held on Thursday, May 12th, 2011. Our emphasis will be art produced by our students to help other students. The goal is to encourage our students to help others in our global community. This year we have incorporated a Children’s book entitled “Flat Lucy” created by our second graders. It follows the same concept as “Flat Stanley” by Jeff Brown. Our children are visiting local merchants and writing about Flat Lucy’s escapade and of course using their very own illustrations. It is sure to be a best seller! The book will be available at the event.

1st Annual Art Auction

If you didn’t know already, Hanko Memorial Scholarship Fund grants scholarships to high school seniors that attended the Margate City School District and will be continuing on to higher education.

Applicants are judged on a wide range of criteria that includes academic achievement, community involvement, extra-curricular participation, and employment history.

In 2010 we are expanding our vision to include and support educational needs both nationally and internationally. Therefore we held our first annual Art Auction as well as our traditional Golf Tournament . Our emphasis will be art produced by our students to help other students from other schools and this year proud to announce we will be helping The Literacy Workshop at the James Dobson School in Philadelphia.  The goal is to further encourage education and assist in improving education while including the community and students of Margate Schools in our charitable endeavors.  Our event was held at Steve & Cookies by the Bay in Margate.

To date, our foundation has granted $135,000 in scholarships to outstanding students. Supported by the generous contributions of many individuals and businesses throughout our community, we hope to continue our mission for many years to come.
